Turning Books into Bread

Parson's Porch & Book Publishing is a book publishing company with a double focus.  We focus on the needs of creative writers who need a professional publisher to turn their words into books, & we also focus on the needs of others by turning their books into bread by sharing our profits with those who are homeless and displaced by meeting their basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and safety.

Over the past decade, I’ve written pastoral prayers for worship each week. These were written in the heat of the moment, so to speak. Usually composed early Sunday morning after the week-long digestion of scripture, they are graced with current news and whatever other sources fly by on Facebook, television, etc. Moreover, they are imbued with the weather of the day: rainy, snowy, hot, sunny, cloudy days that greet us and build our patience. As I prepared for worship, these are the words that came to me, the words that seemed appropriate to bless the congregation, the words that connected ancient scripture with our modern lives.

With oblique allusions, e.g. 'How many times do I have to forgive? That many!’ I have enjoyed reading this in draft - look forward to seeing this all in print. ~Rev. Charles Peek
