Turning books into Bread

Parson's Porch & Book Publishing is a book publishing company with a double focus.  We focus on the needs of creative writers who need a professional publisher to turn their words into books, & we also focus on the needs of others by turning their books into bread by sharing our profits with those who are homeless and displaced by meeting their basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and safety.

Down on the Farm in Georgia

is a poetic memoir. I lived on the farm from birth

until my last two years of college.

Everything since is memory.

When a parent tells a child a story,

Both become one,

listening together—

To the wisdom of the ages.

The faithful telling of past stories links past and present,

creating a new future. The gift of family is experienced

in each new telling. I hope this memoir will inspire you

to tell and preserve your own family stories.

Dwayne Cole and his wife, Beth, met while studying for the Master of Divinity degree at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dwayne’s earned degrees include a Ph.D. in New Testament with a major in Greek. They have an adult son and daughter and two teenage grandchildren. They moved to Alaska in 2011 to be with family. Their daughter and son-in-law moved at that time to start their medical practice and needed help with their two children. Dwayne’s passion is poetry that is inspired by his daily walks in the beauty and wonder of Alaska.

His last four books are nature inspired prose/poetry books are A Relational Hermeneutic of Kindness, God and Evil: An Ode to Kindness, Poems Inspired by Process Philosophy, and Trees and Driftwood: A Poetic Ecology.
