Turning books into Bread

Parson's Porch & Book Publishing is a book publishing company with a double focus.  We focus on the needs of creative writers who need a professional publisher to turn their words into books, & we also focus on the needs of others by turning their books into bread by sharing our profits with those who are homeless and displaced by meeting their basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and safety.

After watching the desecration of his Christian faith for several decades, Reginald Scot felt that he could no longer silently bask in the comforts of heaven while so many of his earthly fellowmen suffered at the hands of religious people---just as they did back during his time on earth in the 1500s when the churches were falsely accusing people of being witches and then showing God's love by murdering them. He had to speak out again through this satirical novel about a strong Christian's search for the path to heaven immediately after his death. As the novel unfolds, it vividly shows the meanness, the silliness, the ugliness and the hypocrisy of religious bigotry and the challenges facing those who oppose such bigotry.

Reggie's hope is that the stories in this book will help you see and experience the intolerance and bigotry that has captured our Christian religion and motivate you join him and others in denouncing that image in all its depraved forms. If enough of us speak out, we can defeat bigotry and create an environment where all people are treated with respect, dignity, love and equality.

Reginald (Reggie) Scot, who now resides with God in heaven, was a successful English land owner who served as a member of parliament in the 1500's. He is most remembered today as the author of The Discoverie of Witchcraft, published in 1584. In it, he courageously argued that the belief in witchcraft was based on untrue and irrational superstitions promoted by the church, as well as the communities, at large.

In July 2015, he felt that he had been called to again confront the evils of man's religious bigotry. He chose to do so this time by acquainting the reader with the decisions, events and problems that they are likely to face immediately after their death as they search for the path to heaven.
